Meet Dr. Brantley

Shelby K. Brantley Jr., MD, is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He performs all types of plastic and reconstructive procedures, with a specific interest in cosmetic surgery, including the entire spectrum of breast surgery, body contouring including tummy tucks and liposuction, facial rejuvenation such as nose jobs, facelifts, and eyelids, and fat grafting. His reconstructive interests include breast cancer reconstruction, complex breast surgery, and surgery in massive weight-loss patients. Dr. Brantley also does vaginal rejuvenation including labiaplasty, and laser vaginal rejuvenation via V-Revive, www.v-revive.com.

Skills and Specialties

Dr. Brantley has authored more than 50 articles and abstracts for medical journals, has performed over 20,000 procedures, and his vast experience in aesthetic surgery has led numerous plastic surgical residents to seek his tutelage. Dedication to his work, diligence in his pursuit of perfection, and a bedside manner that exudes compassion have made him the plastic surgeon of choice for thousands of satisfied patients.

Education and Training

A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, Dr. Brantley received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Following an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, he completed his plastic surgery fellowship in 1994 at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga. He was selected to participate in a basic and clinical science plastic surgery fellowship, which resulted in multiple award-winning, national scientific presentations and the publication of numerous articles related to silicone immunology and ultraviolet light exposure. He continues to contribute to the medical literature, with recent articles related to liposuction and abdominoplasties published in MD News and Outlook.

Awards and Recognition

For several years running, Dr. Brantley participated in LEAD which stand for Leadership, Experience, and Development in breast augmentations. The LEAD council is composed of board certified plastic surgeons from across the country who meet on an annual basis to share their wealth of knowledge with industry leaders.

Personal

He and his wife, Beth, have four children: Savannah, Alexis, Eliza, and Shelby, III. They are members of Christ United Methodist Church. Dr. Brantley is active in numerous charitable organization and his outside interests include real estate development and outdoor activities.
