About Breast Revision Surgery
If you're having issues with your breast augmentation surgery implants or you are unhappy with the current size or shape of your breasts, then The Face & Body Center's team of surgeons can help address these needs with a breast revision procedure. We can discuss your needs and goals with you at our Flowood, MS office and help you achieve the right look. We want you to feel happy and confident, so we will tailor the shape and size of your new implants to suit your lifestyle and desired aesthetic. Breast revision surgery can be used to replace ruptured or damaged implants, restore implants that have been there longer than ten years, and remove the implant altogether if needed. Call our office today to schedule your consultation.
Why is this surgery needed?
Breast revision surgery may be needed due to a breast augmentation procedure that did not turn out well, an implant that is malfunctioning, or for a simple change of aesthetics. Women decide to have this procedure for a number of different reasons, including:
A desire to have a different breast size
After having breast implants for several years, some women decide to change the size of their implants to smaller or larger ones. This may be a personal aesthetic preference to shape, type of implant, or texture of the implant. It may also be necessary as a woman’s weight fluctuates with age.
The removal of breast implants
Some women desire to have their breast implants removed altogether as they no longer wish to have them or have a medical condition that requires the removal.
A silicone implant rupture usually happens and goes undetected until the shape of the breast is noticeably different or is detected with an MRI. However, a saline implant will immediately deflate. Both require a surgical intervention.
A double bubble refers to the breast implant being placed incorrectly by the plastic surgeon or from the implant shifting downward under the breast, giving the appearance of a double breast. This can happen in one or both breasts.
Scarring or capsular contracture
Scarring can cause breast implants to lose their shape and feel very hard. As scar tissue grows around the implant (usually saline implants), it has to be surgically removed for best results.
When a breast implant develops a ripple or a wrinkle within itself, it sometimes can be seen under the skin around the outside of the breast of the patient. This rippling can happen with saline or silicone implants and within one or both breasts.
"Awesome Experince - After visiting just about every Surgeon in MS and LA, I saw Dr. Davidson, I knew right then he was my pick. In October 2016 I went in to the office and he drained my 450 each breast saline implants. No pain so simple, sent me home and said come back in 6 weeks. Mind you I still had the bags in. Thought this would be hard really never knew they were there. I had some pre-cancerous spots..."- A. / RealSelf / Jun 06, 2018
"I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Barraza and the entire Face and Body Center staff I have encountered! They’re all extremely professional and very helpful. Dr. Barraza takes plenty of time with his patients discussing procedures and explaining all options. I truly felt like he treated me as he would his own wife/daughter. Very thankful for him and his wonderful nurses!"- B.C. / Google / Mar 12, 2019

"From beginning to end, The Face and Body Center went above and beyond my expectations! I went in for a BA consult in April of 2018 and by March 2019 I was finally ready to take the plunge and have the surgery. Dr. Barraza and his staff were amazing and they made the process so EASY!!! I was a nervous wreck the day of my surgery, but they were so calm, collected and professional that it was hard to worry! It was seriously a breeze. I can't wait to see the final results, but I know they're going to be great! I highly recommend Dr. Barraza!!!"- L.A. / Google / Mar 12, 2019

What to Expect
Breast revision surgery is usually very similar to the initial breast augmentation surgery, but it depends on the surgical case and what is being addressed. For women who are getting a smaller size or complete removal, a breast lift may be necessary to correct loose skin. For other patients who have scar tissue, rippling, double bubble, or an implant rupture, a reconstructive process will be performed to prevent a reoccurrence. Your plastic surgeon will address the issues at hand and resolve the problem with a realistic outcome discussed prior to treatment. You should keep in mind that the more difficult the procedure, the longer the recovery will be.
You will be educated on how to properly care for the surgical incision points and the best skincare treatments to reduce scarring. There will also be significant bruising and swelling for the first couple of weeks. You should limit strenuous exercise, but still get up and move around to promote healing and blood circulation. You will likely recover in 4 – 6 weeks and should enjoy your breast revision results for years to come.
