About Lower Body Lift Surgery

A lower body lift is a completely custom procedure that our team of surgeons can perform for those who have undergone a weight loss transformation, but have leftover excess skin on their lower body. This procedure can tighten and trim away this loose and hanging skin in areas such as the abdomen, lower back, thighs, buttocks, and more. You can meet with one of our Flowood, MS plastic surgeons at The Face & Body Center to choose which procedure can best address your needs and give you the tighter, more toned physique you've worked so hard to achieve.

Best Candidates

Men and women with a significant amount of loose skin on their abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and hips are ideal candidates for this surgery. It is important that the weight loss has been stabilized and that a proper physical is completed to ensure the patient is healthy enough to undergo this procedure. Others who would benefit from the lower body lift are:

  • Women who have given birth and have lost the firmness in their skin
  • Men and women of advanced age who would like to reverse the damage of aging and hanging skin
  • Men and women of overall good health who can have surgery under anesthesia

I knew I wanted Dr. Mani to do my tummy tuck and lower body lift after my first consultation with him! He agreed with my final goal and knew exactly how I wanted to look. I have never felt so good in all of my life. After losing 55 pounds, I wanted to have these surgeries. I've gone from wearing size 8/10 to now wearing size 4/6. Unbelievable!

What to Expect

Skin removal procedures are moderately complex and will require several incisions on the torso, buttocks, and thighs. The skin will be removed and then sutured into a higher position. Some patients may require liposuction in some areas if there are additional pockets of isolated fat to address. In addition, it is common to complete the look with a fat transfer, which involves taking fat from one part of the body to help add volume to another area for a curvier, enhanced appearance. A lower body lift can be done in one setting. However, it may be in your best interest to separate the various components of the procedure, as this is a 5 – 8-hour surgical journey and involves slow healing during recovery that can take up to a year.

Anticipated Results

While a lower body lift can result in outstanding outcomes for the majority of our weight loss patients, it is important to understand that scarring is a part of this surgery. Unfortunately, when skin removal of this nature occurs, scarring is often unavoidable. However, you can trust that our plastic surgeon will make sure the scars can be concealed with clothing and are made as thin as possible so they heal nicely and properly. Most of our patients feel the results from this surgery outweigh the scars. You should feel lighter, able wear tighter-fitting clothes, and not have to worry about hiding your loose skin. This surgery creates a tighter appearance, a more toned look, and a more youthful contour. It takes the average patient about 6 – 9 months to recover from this surgery.

About Us

New Body, New Start

If you are at a point in your life where the extra skin on your lower body is interfering with your self-confidence or decreasing your range of motion or mobility, you should contact our plastic surgery office for a consultation. We can discuss all the options for lower body lift surgery at your first appointment.

How much does a lower body lift cost?

The price of a lower body lift procedure will vary from patient to patient. In your consultation, a team member will develop a treatment plan that fits your goals. The Face & Body Center takes several payment methods, including low-interest financing to help make your lower body lift as affordable as possible.

Will I have visible scarring?

A few factors will contribute to how many scars you have and their visibility after a lower body lift. A team member plans incision points so they are either easily concealed in less visible areas like in natural skin folds or where they will be covered by undergarments. We will provide post-surgery instructions on how to help your sutures heal correctly so the scars are smooth and, in time, blend with your normal skin.

What can I expect during recovery?

Following your lower body lift surgery, you may experience moderate swelling and bruising in and around the treatment areas. Follow-up appointments are important so a team member can monitor your healing. You must contact The Face & Body Center if you see any signs of an infection or have any questions.
