Winter is here along with the dry, cold air that irritates the skin. So, what’s a girl to do?

Go for creams rather than lotions. Check the dryness of your skin by scratching a small area on your arm or leg with your fingernail. If it leaves a white mark, your skin is indeed dry and needs both moisture and exfoliation. The best way to add moisture is by using a cream rather than a lotion. This will make a big impact in the hydration of your skin. Most lotions are less emollient and not enough moisture during the colder months.  We suggest trying Skin Medica’s Dermal Repair Cream for your winter regimen.

Wash with milder cleansers. As the temperature drops, your wardrobe isn't the only thing that needs to change. Your skin loses about 25 percent of its ability to hold moisture in the winter months. So, swap your acidic cleansers for something a little more soothing to keep your skin refreshed. We love Glymed’s Mega Purifying Cleanser!

Seek a specialist. Find an aesthetician that can analyze your skin type and get your skincare regimen up to date. They can also suggest some in-house options to improve and maintain your skin. One of our favorite facial treatments is Obagi’s Blue Radiance Peel.
